The Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is a small group of dedicated volunteers who have undertaken the important mission of making certain that the Church is prepared for its services.  Our duties include flower arranging, ensuring proper liturgical colors for all vestments and hangings on the pulpit and lectern, preparing the Communion vessels for both
services and for the shut-in visitation kits, setting up the altar, completing hymn boards, laundering and ironing all linens.
There are also special tasks associated with baptisms, weddings, funerals and memorial
services.  Click here for contact information for altar guild team leaders.

Worship Leaders

Looking for a new ministry - one that will bring you closer to the Word and a greater appreciation and understanding of the worship service?  Ask about becoming a lector who reads the lessons from scripture and/or offers the prayers on behalf of the people gathered for worship.  This is a very special and rewarding ministry.  Minimal  training is needed to ensure a meaningful and edifying experience in worship.  Communion ministers require special training to assist the priest in administering the sacrament.  This rewarding ministry involves a deep commitment to study and prayer.  Worship leaders are needed for either the 7:30AM or 9:00AM liturgies. Scheduling is very flexible!  If interested, please speak to the Rector.  Worship leaders meet on the 1st Saturday morning of every month.

  Acolytes

The Acolyte program provides an opportunityfor the youth of our parish to serve

the churchby assisting the clergy in the liturgy.  Their dutiesbegin with simple functions and become increasingly more complex as they gain experience and confidence. Training is provided on a regular basis. Ifyou are interested, please speak to the Rector or Nicky in the office.

                                                              Ushers and Greeters

Ushers are often the first people to meet visitors and newcomers to Holy Nativity.  The purpose of this ministry is to welcome worshipers, to assist in their seating, and to manage other details of worship services. This includes distribution of bulletins, counting those present at worship, receiving the offering, and to coordinate the presentation at the Offertory. Ushers also assist people needing assistance during Holy Communion.

Two to four ushers are needed each Sunday. All who would like to participate are welcome.  Please contact the church office for more information.

Time Commitment : 15 minutes before the service begins, through the completion of the service.

Those involved receive training as needed by those responsible for coordination.

Bishop’s visit to Holy Nativity Church 2009

On Wednesday, August 5 Bishop Fitzpatrick gathered with approximately 20 folks from Holy Nativity Church and School for pot luck and discussion.  The Bishop spoke to the gathered assembly about the need to refocus on Faith for the church to maintain a viable witness.  Emphasizing the fact that the church does not need another program or activity but rather a renewal of it's Faith.  He asked the question, "if someone new to the church asked you what "we" believed, what would we say?"  He stated that there is a sense of "urgency" in setting a new course for the life and work of the church.  The questions for Holy Nativity are, "What does our very name suggest?"  "Why are we here?"  Bottom line, "We have to ask the Faith question.
